I’m an Alum of Bethel. Do I have access to EBSCO?

1617 views   |   0 Vote this question as useful.   1 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on Mar 10, 2018    Research Library EBSCO

We hate to be the bearers of bad news but after graduation our students do not have access to the databases.

Bethel's license agreements with our database vendors limit access to current students and staff.

The good news is that Tennessee's library system has a lot of wonderful databases available to residents.

They have databases such as Academic Onefile that you used here at Bethel.

Here's the complete list: http://tntel.tnsos.org/browse.php?browse=listings

Reference: Author Surname, First Initial. Second Initial [of the source you read]. (Year). Book title: Subtitle. Publisher.

Example 1:
In-Text Citation (Paraphrase): (Fong, 1987, as cited in Bertram, 1996)
Reference: Do not include Fong (1987) in your References; do include Bertram (1996).

To save articles inside EBSCO's folder, you will need to create an EBSCO account. To create an account, log into the library like you usually do, go to EBSCO, click the Sign In button on the top right, then click Create a New Account on the top right.

If you would prefer not to create an EBSCO account, you can always email the articles to yourself, save them to your computer, or print them. If you need help with any of those options, just let me know.

When and how often should I cite?

1295 views   |   1 Vote this question as useful.   0 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on Apr 06, 2021    APA plagiarism citation homework help

This is a great question! Here is what the APA Manual of Style recommends:

Avoid both undercitation and overcitation. Undercitation can lead to plagiarism (see Section 8.2) and/or self-plagiarism (see Section 8.3). Even when sources cannot be retrieved (e.g., because they are personal communications; see Section 8.9), you still need to credit them in the text (however, avoid using online sources that are no longer recoverable; see Section 9.37). Overcitation can be distracting and is unnecessary. For example, it is considered overcitation to repeat the same citation in every sentence when the source and topic have not changed. Instead, when paraphrasing a key point in more than one sentence within a paragraph, cite the source in the first sentence in which it is relevant and do not repeat the citation in subsequent sentences as long as the source remains clear and unchanged (see Section 8.24). (p.254)
